Biography

Bridgend-born Ashley boxes in the lightest amateur boxing weight division and alongside his boxing career works full time with the British Army.

The former Ynysawdre Comprehensive School pupil first got into the sport after being bullied.

Ashley represented Wales and reached the final of the 2012 Olympic Gloves tournament in Estonia and went one better at the Popenchenko tournament in 2013 where he won gold.

Part of GB Boxing's Podium Potential squad, Ashley reached the last 16 at the 2013 World Championships.

He competed for Wales in the men's 49kg light flyweight category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal.
